Weddings and Camera's
Well, it's been a few days since I have been on here. I had a wedding to photograph and was preparing for that, as well as life happening all around me, so I am back in the saddle.
The worst case scenario happened at the wedding! My camera died, right there in my hands, 2 hours prior to the wedding! I made sure I had back up batteries, flashes, charged batteries, you name it! What I didn't have readily available was a back up camera! FAIL!
I called a friend, who in turn called her son and within an hour and a half, I was back in business! Can be a little stressful learning a new camera in half an hour, and keep your composure at the same time.
Who wants to freak the Bride and Groom out on their day? (There was time to freak out in the privacy of my own home later on!) They hired me to get their memories and precious moments on film, it was their big day, as well as mine!
My day started at 7 am - one hour drive to their home - shooting began shortly after I arrived at 10 a.m. Camera died at 11 am - back up camera arrived 12:30 p.m. wedding at 1 p.m.
Pretty much non stop shooting from 12:30 to 6:05 p.m.
Home at 7:15 and bubble bath at 7:20!
I didn't even look at the photos until the next day! I was exhausted. Emotionally. I didn't know what was wrong with my camera, my baby.
The photographs turned out great! The bride and groom love what I had captured for them. (Please see my photos on my wedding page.)
It turns out that my shutter had blown. The tech that looked at my camera said he had never seen anything like it. My motto: Go Big or Go Home! :O)
So... a few lesson's learned: ALWAYS have a back up camera. I don't care how many batteries you have! :O) Borrow a camera if you need to, but have a back up :O)
second lesson: Believe in yourself.
